Here's your chance to earn a
thousand bucks... create a promo for your
portfolio... and get a new client - ME!
Hiya CopyStar,
I'll be honest with you. The
folks who attended my
Copywriting Boot Camp on
Steroids last month have the
inside track on what I'm about
to share with you.
But that's ok - because I've
decided to open this special
opportunity to ALL of my
CopyStar readers - and that
means YOU! Here's what I mean:
At the end of my first-ever
Copywriting Boot Camp on
Steroids - the attendees were so
PUMPED UP with knowledge and
rarin' to put their newfound
copywriting secrets to work - I
offered them a job on the spot:
Write a landing page copy to
promote "Copywriting Boot Camp
on Steroids - on DVD!
Now here's where I have to make
a full disclosure:
Yes - I decided at the very last
minute to audio and videotape
the seminar. But I made NO
promises to EVER offer this
event on audio, video, MP3, or
whatever! I may choose to do so
in the future - but then again,
I may not.
Anyhoo...
As a copywriter, I know the best
time to write kick-butt copy is
when you're motivated...
excited... and hot...Hot...HOT!
And these folks definitely fit
the bill! They uncovered all my
winning secrets for writing
copy...
... I looked over their
shoulders as we worked on killer
bullets...
... gave them "home run"
headline ideas I've used
successfully for over a
decade...
... and they learned how to turn
a ho-hum testimonial into a slam
dunk WINNER!
In other words - I had nearly 2
dozen "mini-me's" in the room -
and they were ON FIRE!
So I decided to strike while the
iron was hot and told them to
write me a promo to sell the DVD
version of the Boot Camp.
They can write the copy ANY WAY
they want. For example...
It can be a testimonial piece -
after all THEY WERE THERE and
they knew what lit THEM on fire!
Or they can write the promo in
my voice. And I gave them full
control to put words in my
mouth. Also...
... they can offer any premiums
they felt would strengthen their
package...
... and they create their own
kick-booty guarantee.
In other words, they had carte
blanche to do the best job ever!
NO holds barred!
Man, were they EXCITED!
|
What I
didn't do is give these folks a deadline - but
I'm changing that RIGHT NOW!
I did tell 'em to write the copy immediately -
while they're still excited about their
experience. That way the words will just flow
and the assignment would be a piece of cake!
Waiting one ... two... three weeks later - means
they gotta work harder to recapture the moment!
Many of them heeded my counsel.
But now, I've got to wrap up this assignment so
I can move on to a new idea that can include ALL
my CopyStar readers.
So, Boot Camp Attendees, listen up:
The deadline for final submission of your
landing page copy is Monday, November
17th at 11:59pm. No ifs, ands or buts
about it! Because...
Starting on Tuesday, November
18th, I'm opening this challenge to ALL my
CopyStar readers!
Now, I'll admit, if you didn't attend
the Copywriting Boot Camp on Steroids - you're
at a slight disadvantage. After all, you weren't
there to experience it for yourself. But the
truth is...
...in REAL copywriting life - you don't always
get to experience the project you're promoting
firsthand anyway.
Most of the time you have to rely on the
research the client gives you and any additional
stuff you dig up on your own.
So, I'm offering the same challenge to you
CopyStar:
Write me a killer landing page copy to promote
Copywriting Boot Camp on Steroids - on DVD. The
same rules apply.
Create the BEST promo you can. No holds barred -
but don't make ridiculous promises I can't
deliver.
Use the Boot Camp landing page copy at:
CopywritingBootCamp as part of your research
kit.
Also, feel free to use any and all testimonials
that appeared in past issues of CopyStar. You
can find them at:
CopyStar Ezine
Or you can go through past issues of The Total
Package for more research info on the Boot Camp:

PLEASE NOTE: This is a spec assignment - I won't
be holding your hand!
While my Boot Camp attendees had me at their
beck and call for their writing assignment - you
don't get that privilege! So DO NOT send me
"drafts" and "look overs" or "gotta a few
questions" about this assignment emails.
Everything you need to know is in this ezine.
This is a spec assignment. That means...
You're speculating that if you write good copy
and it's accepted, then you'll get paid for your
work. I'm not going to give you crits to make
your copy better before you turn it in. I just
don't have the time.
But if your spec assignment is chosen -
I'll pay you $1,000 bucks, too! And...
... you have a real, live landing page sample
for your portfolio... and...
...you can include me in your list of clients!
Your deadline:
Final submission for all spec assignments is
Wednesday, December 17, 2008, 11:59pm. After
that - the offer expires! Please, only ONE spec
assignment per person!
So, can you handle this challenge, CopyStar?
I think you can! Here's a little help:
Review what we've discussed in previous issues
of CopyStar about writing killer copy:

Ok, that's it... so get going, CopyStar - you've
got some work to do - and some serious MOOLAH to
make! You can do it! |
An "eye-opening" experience
My hunny and I decided to nix a big ole 25th
anniversary party and opted to celebrate our
quarter-of-a-century together in an
untraditional way. We spent October 8th
together and made it a day of new
experiences.
We began our day by visiting the "Dialog in
the Dark" exhibit in Atlanta. Have you seen
it?
It's a very popular exhibit in over 22
countries and over 130 cities throughout the
world. But Atlanta is the first U.S. city to
showcase this amazing experience.
At the exhibit, you're taught how to use a
cane and for over an hour - you experience
what it's like to be visually impaired. A
blind tour guide takes you through normal,
every day activities - and you "see" the
world in a whole new way.
Quite honestly, it was an "eye-opening"
experience for me.
Our guide, Derrick, showed us how to
compensate for our vision loss by tuning in
to our other miraculous senses.
I don't want to spoil the experience by
giving away the specifics - because if
you're planning to visit Atlanta, GA - make
sure you include this exhibit as a MUST SEE
(yes, pun intended).
In fact, here's the website address with all
their info - check it out:

What did I learn from
living in the dark?
I was so moved by this experience that I
wrote an article about it and submitted to
Clayton Makepeace's The Total Package. I
chose The Total Package for one reason only:
They have over 50 TIMES more subscribers
than CopyStar! I wanted to get the word out
as fast as I could about this amazing
exhibit.
I shared some powerful lessons I learned
from "living in the dark" - and 3 AHA
moments I uncovered that can also make you a
better, stronger copywriter.
